In February, 2003, a small group of families met for a Bible study in a relaxed home environment. We were blessed to have Pastor Darrel and his wife, Hazel visit from Texas for a few days. He led us in a study on “Definitions” followed by a long and productive, “Question and Answer” session. Most of the participants had a good Bible foundation but realized that there was so much more to learn about God’s Word.
There was a real excitement! How could we have missed so much after years of church?!
Even though we could only offer him a very small salary, Darrel agreed to the calling and joined in with this small group to start a church to teach us in an expository manner? Our first service started on August 3, 2003.
Humble Beginnings….
We met in a small office at the Mauney Building until the beginning of 2006. We then moved into the Lincoln Cultural Center where we continue to meet. In 2007 the church purchased a small house on 2.76 acres of land located at 916 Wilma Sigmon Rd, Lincolnton, NC to allow for the future building of a physical church building.
In 2010 Pastor Darrel, a Dallas Theological graduate, resigned so that he and his wife would move back to the Louisianan/Texas area to be closer to Hazel’s mother and their children. God graciously answered our prayers by sending Pastor Jay Newland.
In 2016 Pastor Jay, a graduate of John MacArthur’s Master’s Seminary, stepped down after six years of faithfully teaching God’s Word in a verse-by-verse, expository manner.
In 2017 Pastor Alex, attending Albert Mohler’s Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, has taken the position of Teaching Elder/Pastor to continue the mission that was started.
